Police are asking the public to help them identify this individual.

A lone, male suspect is now sought by the Ottawa police robbery unit after several robberies within just three to six km from Algonquin.

On Feb.1, a male suspect entered a bank on the 1300 block of Merivale Road with demands of money receiving an undisclosed amount.

On Feb. 7, the same suspect entered a restaurant at the 700 block of Baseline Road. He produced a note demanding money at a restaurant. After being denied he fled the scene and used the note again at a separate store receiving an unnoted amount of money.

Ottawa police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding the suspect and have released a description as well as captured photos.

“The suspect is described as a black male, 25-30 years, 6’0″ (183 cm), medium to large build, with medium length dreadlocks. The suspect was wearing dark track pants, black shoes, a black puffy winter coat with the hood up.’A female student reported continued harassment Jan. 13 to college security. No further information was given on either people involved. Security services does encourages anyone who is experiencing harassment to report it.

Report from campus security:

A ‘non-student’ slipped and fell on the ice Jan. 5 while on campus. They reported the fall to college security who applied first aid. Security will help anyone in need on campus if approached.

On the same date, security noticed toothpaste was smeared on a classroom door. The person responsible was found, and a male was issued a notice prohibiting entry.

A student reported their cellphone was allegedly stolen Jan. 9. Security issued a reminder that personal items should be watched at all times to avoid risk of stolen property. Don’t leave valuables unattended, though lost items can be reported to security.

A male and female were found to be openly drinking together on campus Jan. 15. Security approached them about disposing of the open alcohol, which they willingly did. Security reminds the community that open alcohol and drinking in unlicensed area is prohibited.
