An incoming storm has forced the closing of post-secondary schools across the Ottawa region.

Algonquin has joined them.

A release from the college Feb. 12 said that classes will be suspended as of 5 p.m. this evening.

With the exception of essential services, the school will not reopen until 5 p.m. on Feb. 13.

Closures will affect Woodroffe, Perth and Pembroke campuses. According to their websites, Carleton and the University of Ottawa will also be cancelling their classes for this evening and much of tomorrow as well.

The college policy on closures note that “unusually severe weather conditions or other emergencies may require a campus to be closed in the interest of safety.”

The college will be evaluating the situation and ask students and employees to monitor social media accounts for updates.
