Trump administration sued by 16 states

From the Ottawa Citizen: A convoy called United We Roll stopped tonight in Arnprior before preparing for an 11 a.m. protest on Parliament Hill.

According to organizer Jason Corbeil, the group will be protesting Bill C-69 and 48. They are asking that pipelines be built, changes be made to the environmental review process and banning oil tankers from British Columbia’s north coast. They also see the carbon tax as a problem.

The convoy had left Red Deer, Alta., on Feb. 14.

National:

According to the CBC: Prime Minister Trudeau’s principal secretary has resigned during a shakeup in the Prime Minister’s Office.

Gerald Butts resigned and Trudeau’s chief of staff, Katie Telford, has left as well. The resignations came while allegations that members of the Prime Minister’s Office had pressured former justice minister Jody Wilson-Raybold into helping SNC-Lavelin avoid criminal prosecution.

Butts denied the allegations.

International:

From CNN: President Trump’s administration is being sued by 16 states after he declared a national emergency on the southern border.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra filed the lawsuit to “try and halt the President from violating the Constitution, the separation of powers, from stealing money from Americans and states that has been allocated by Congress, lawfully.”

Attorney Generals from Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon and Virginia have joined the lawsuit.
