Hintonburg neighbourhood going to the (bull)dogs?


A Hintonburg homeowner has been asked to cover up the newly painted two-storey mural of her French bulldog. The mural was painted in efforts to try and cover up graffiti tags that appeared on the side of her building. Someone had contacted the City of Ottawa bylaws who then instructed the resident to cover up the mural. With support from local Councillor Jeff Leaper and Mayor Jim Watson, the resident is hoping to overthrow city bylaws and keep the mural up of her beloved dog.

The U.K. is looking to strengthen its relationship with Canada by appointing new diplomats and pursuing new investments with Canada as the official deadline for Brexit approaches. As the U.K. and the European Union work on trade agreements and new arrangements for Ireland, the U.K.’s high commissioner to Canada has said it is now time to focus on its relationship with Canada, something they have taken for granted.

Brett Kavanaugh has been sworn into the Supreme Court. After weeks of battling allegations of sexual assault and 11 FBI investigations, enough senators backed Kavanaugh’s nomination (50 to 48). His appointment into the nine-judge court strengthens conservative control on U.S. law. His appointment happened Saturday evening in a small ceremony with his wife and two daughters by his side.
